James Vessels – KI5CRG

I am a licensed amateur radio operator, General Class. My call sign is KI5CRG. I am also a member of the Garland Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Services (RACES) and I am ARES certified to provide emergency wireless radio communication services during a disaster.

As a licensed Ham Operator, I like to track the conditions of the Ham Bands — the radio frequencies we use. The HF Propagation panel below measures the sun’s effect on radio signals on Earth. Solar radiation energizes the Earth’s ionosphere. When ionization is high, radio waves of different frequencies are reflected back to the Earth's surface, allowing people far away to hear your radio signal.
